Excitement is brewing for the 2013 ABR bus trip to Ironwood, Michigan.
On Saturday, December 14, we will depart from John Muir parking lot on Stewart Avenue at 7:15 a.m. We will be riding in a relaxing charter bus with plenty of room for ski gear storage.Complimentary refreshments will be available along the route to ABR (Active Backwoods Retreat).We will reach ABR at approximately 10:00 a.m., just in time to enjoy an invigorating morning ski or snowshoe.A free ski lesson will be available after arrival by ski instructor, John Beatty. After the morning ski, a hearty lunch will be available at the Old World Meats vendor trailer near the ABR cabin. You can order and pay for your lunch from a wide menu of meat, vegetarian, soup, and drink selections at your own expense. Members can enjoy an afternoon ski/snowshoe until 4:00 p.m., at which time the motor coach will head toward a dinner location along Hwy. 51. Dinner will be ordered off the menu with individual checks at your own expense. Arrival back in Wausau will be in the 9:00-10:00 p.m. time frame.
To participate in this first outing of the season, complete the liability form and registration form, and enclose your check made out to the Wausau Nordic Ski Club and mail to: Wausau Nordic Ski Club, P. O. Box 1813, Wausau, WI 54401-1813.Mailed forms must be received by December 3.If there are any remaining seats on the motor coach, members may sign up for them at the potluck on Monday, December 5. Trip cancellation after December 5 (date of potluck social event) will result in loss of registration fee, unless a replacement participant is found.

Snow Striders are for preschoolers and grade school age children with one-on-one help to give them the right first step on skis. Night Gliders are for 4th to 8th grade children which allows young racers an opportunity to learn more about diagonal and skating techniques. The High School Ski Team promotes an interest in cross country skiing at Wausau West, Wausau East, Wausau Newman and D.C. Everest.
The Ski Swap helps to finance Club projects and sponsor High School teams. The 2012 Snekkevik Ski Race is the oldest continuing organized ski race in the state held in January at Nine Mile Forest.
Our membership resources are used to improve and maintain the trails at 9-mile County Forrest. Our club has invested in sophisticated grooming equipment intended to provide the best possible tracks for area skiers.
