The Wausau Nordic Ski Club meeting on
Thursday, February 16, 2012 will feature Gigi Heinz, yoga instructor,
who will present a program on Yoga for Skiers.
She will demonstrate and instruct those attending in yoga techniques
which can benefit skiers, for stretching, strength and balance. The
meeting will be held at Nine Mile Forest Chalet at 7:00PM. Please bring
a mat of some type to use on the floor during the program, and wear
comfortable clothing. Those attending are asked to bring a dessert of
some type to pass, as this is our annual Chocolate Night for Valentine’s
Day. If there are any questions, please contact Jeanne Alexejun at
(715)359-7578 or jalexejun@charter.net.

Thanks for Helping With the Free Ski Lessons
Thank you for your very appreciated help with
the Wausau Nordic ski club free ski lessons.
This year due to the slow start from low snow
attendance was down. We gave 141 skier lessons, which is very good.
Having less students made registration easier,
equipment did not totally run out, and it was great to send two
instructors out with some classes.
I sure hope we can have a "surplus" of
instructors again next year.
Thank you so much for volunteering.

Hi, I’m Cathy Matel; I’m a member of the Rib Mountain Ski Club Board,
but I also organize events for the Robert Monk Gardens here in Wausau.
In case you’re not familiar with the gardens the land was donated by Mr.
Monk for the development of a botanical garden and is located up near
NTC. Here’s a link to their website so you can check them out.
http://www.rwmonkgardens.org/
This organization is looking for a group to host a winter event at the
garden. The garden is about 20 acres so not a huge area for skiing, but
big enough I think. We had originally worked on it as a snowshoe event
so we have lined up a bunch of snow shoes that we can lend out to people
that day. We do not have a date, but are thinking February or March. We
would need to get some skis to have available also for those that don’t
yet own skis or snowshoes. We will also provide radio and television
advertisement and will feature the event on the events page of our
website and in our monthly newsletter. We could also feature the Wausau
Nordic Club in our advertising and thus give the club added exposure.
Thank You,
Cathy Matel
