We, as Wausau Nordic Skiers, are volunteer-diverse people with a common interest in the sport of cross country skiing. We are both competitive racers and weekend social skiers - a complete spectrum of individuals consisting of families, singles, youths and seniors from all social spheres.
The Wausau Nordic Ski Club was formed in 1972 to establish, maintain and promote safe cross country skiing through projects contributing to growth and advancement of the sport.

Greenwood Hills Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Trail 2011-12 Membership Fee Program
Announcing the opening of another Nordic ski venue in Wausau. Greenwood Hills CC has provided Nordic skiing in the past as part of the Marathon County Trail System. Marathon County chose several years ago to not help fund the ski trails at GHCC anymore. The daily donation box in the past has been unsuccessful in helping subsidize the trails. Going forward, GHCC skiing and snowshoeing will be for golf members and ski members only. To help promote GHCC skiing, I would like to offer all Wausau Nordic Ski Members $25.00 individual ski memberships and $60.00 family ski memberships for the 2011-2012 ski season. The trails will be accessible to members with buttons only. There will be no daily trail fee rate. GHCC will be extending this offer until your potluck December 6th. Attached is our 2011-2012 regular season rates. I will be at the potluck and will gladly answer questions and help sign anyone up that evening.
We are hoping to make snow and be open around Thanksgiving (weather depending). There is no hunting on the golf course so we hope to be open and grooming regularly depending on Mother Nature. GHCC will hope to offer late season skiing for members like last year after the late snow storm at the end of March. Some individuals have also invested in a new Tid-Tec groomer to help improve the quality of the ski trails. Eight Kilometers of ski trails will be groomed for skate and traditional Nordic skiing. There will be a separate trail for snow shoeing. GHCC has prided itself on providing quality turf conditions and hopes with enough of your support that we can maintain premium conditions for skiing.
Lastly, all Wausau high school students will receive free passes. Night gliders and all children 12 and under will be able to ski free with an adult member. I hope with a lot of your support, GHCC will be able to give passes to all coaches someday. I commend all individuals that give back to something they believe in. Until such a day, I hope that all coaches will be present with a pass. GHCC hopes to encourage the sport of skiing by extending this privilege to local young skiers. I can only hope to continue to find ways to promote skiing in the area with your help.
